Earlier today I went to the DIA to check out the much talked about 30 Americans exhibit. The exhibit features contemporary artwork from 30 African American artists. It was inspiring to see artwork of some of the artists I've been following for years. I was especially excited to see Kehinde Wiley and Basquiat's work up close in person. I've been following Wiley's work for about 4 years now, ever since my grandparents gave me a book on his work for my birthday. His paintings are massive and really captivate the room. Another one that stood out was a piece entitled "Duck Duck Noose." When I got to the art work there was a crowd surrounding the powerful piece. The exhibition is up until tomorrow so I highly suggest that you check it out if you can. Who knows maybe next time my work will be featured...
